MAHATHA PETROLEUM PRIVATE LIMITED (formerly MAHATHA PETROCHEMICALS) has been one of the pioneers in the field of petroleum processing, refining and developing of new products ever since its inception in the year 1969.
The company was founded and started by the well - known renowned Petroleum Technologist, Late Sri K.S. Ananthanarayanan, B.Sc., A.M. Institute of Petroleum Technology (London - 1935), who worked as Chief Chemist of M/s.Asiatic Petroleum Co. (SS) Ltd., ( Shell Group ), Singapore, from the year 1932 in their Central Laboratory at Kallang.
During the Second World War he was selected by the Defence Department of the Japanese Military Administration for their R & D work on substitute fuels and lubricants from indigenous sources other than Mineral Oil as a wartime exigency and he was in-charge of "ABURA KOJO" Oil factory.
With such a vast experience of nearly four decades with total dedication and well conversant with petroleum and its ramifications Sri K.S.
Ananthanarayanan had been guiding this organisation exclusively as a Technical Consultant in a Supervisory Capacity till 1998.
After the demise of Sri. K.S. Ananthanarayanan during April, 1998, his son Sri K.A. Thirrupathi, B.Sc., (Chemistry) who had been associated with him as working partner in this industry from 1975, had taken over the charge as Managing Director and sole in-charge for this organisation and its manufacturing and other management activities by virtue of his vast experience and service in this field.
With effect from 1st April 2002, the Firm - Mahatha Petrochemicals – has been converted to a Private Limited Company as MAHATHA PETROLEUM PRIVATE LIMITED.
MAHATHA PETROLEUM PRIVATE LIMITED has a production capacity of about 500 KL per month (approx. 2500 barrels) all petroleum products put together with a working area of about 25,000 sq.ft Spread over 2.5 acres of land and are classified under "MSME".
The Company is having a full-fledged Processing Plant, blending facilities Thermax Heat Exchanger, Filtration process using "Sharples" Super Centrifuges, Micron Filtration System and Transformer oil processing.
The Liberalisation policy and decontrol of several petro-products has enabled the availability of imported base stocks as well as the locally generated feed stock of raw materials from various refineries and PSU has made it possible to diversify into various products in different applications.
The Company always strongly believes in using only "Virgin Oils" for all their formulationsAll the products are manufactured as per the specifications laid down by Standard Institutions (ASTM), user bodies as well as individual OEMS (Original Equipments Manufacturers & Suppliers).
For Customers' specific requirements and also for meeting the new stringent needs of the industry, the Company is having a most Modern and Full-fledged R & D Testing Laboratory headed by Manager-Quality Control, Quality Control Incharge with qualified, well - trained chemists.
During December 2003, the Company has been certified as an ISO 9001:2000 Organisation by BVQI UKAS and now ISO 9001:2015 Organisation
We are an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Company – certified by BVCI With UKAS Accrediation.
Base Oils are procured from Refineries and Government Oil Companies. Additives, Process raw materials, treatment chemicals etc are procured from reputed manufacturers and ISO certified Companies.
Our Quality Assurance Plan is an integral part of ISO 9001:20015 "Quality Management System" and is being implemented effectively towards achieving continual improvement in product quality and customer satisfaction

The products are approved after stringent testing and ensuring conformance to specification requirements. All Laboratory instruments are calibrated by certified agencies at regular intervals for reliability of test results. National and international test methods are followed for testing of Lubricants (ASTM, BIS and customer specified test methods).
